We have some new friends that have joined our family recently.  Yes, chickens.
So far they are only about 6 weeks, and we have far too many... but that will change soon.
Violet is enthralled by her new friends, looks like we will be eating lots of eggs this summer.

A Princess for a Day

Before Violet was born I was determined not to allow too much commercialism (i.e. princesses) into our day to day lives. I really thought I could handle this, come on how hard could it be?

Slowly, they crept in.

It was minimal at first, just a few books that had some references to fairy tales (and always started off "in a far away land") and then Violet really took notice, anywhere there were princesses the world stopped at that moment for her. I finally threw up my arms and decided to let her enjoy this time, and make a valid attempt to not have our house overloaded with princess gear and attire. 

So when the opportunity came up to attend a "Princess Lunch" at Disneyland... well I couldn't refuse... right?  her excitement is pretty apparent in every photo.  She was so thrilled to see each and every princess.
