Violet tells us about her day at "school"

Thank Goodness for Summer in September

We are getting ready to end our summer here in Portland, I can feel it. The air is getting a little brisker, the sun is setting earlier. So we decided to take advantage of a fantastic warm weekend we had!

There is little park in The Pearl that has a "water feature" it's filled with lots of kids, and Violet loves to run around there. The amount of water is perfect for someone her size.

The only time in Violet's life, I hope the words pole and dancing will ever be used in the same sentence.

My Friend Henry

Violet has a friend named Henry. They try to visit with each other at least a couple times a month. I think Violet has a crush on Henry, all she is ever talks about is her "friend Henry".

I'm always amazed by the the little things, a couple of weeks ago we stopped by to visit Henry's new sister Clementine, as I was rounding the corner on Henry's street. Violet yelled out from the back seat "henry!henry!henry"

Weekend at the Beach

We had a great weekend at Rockaway beach with our friends Jen and Tom. We were very fortunate to have little rain, it was bit windy and a little chilly (as you will hear from the video) but we had a fantastic time, we went crabbing (no good crabs caught - but we still had an adventure) ate tons of great food, ran around on the beach, build a bonfire, went wine tasting, and had a great weekend. What Violet loves to do in her spare time. We are hoping the easel will take the place of our walls.

Birthday Dinners

We waited for 2 hours to get a table at Toro Bravo... can I say that it was worth it? You would have to factor in some of my favorite people in the world, a few tasty drinks, and some really good food. So yes, I suppose it was worth the 2 hour wait (next year I'm going somewhere else though....)

My First Quilt

I finally completed the quilt that I started about 2 months ago. It was quite an adventure, but overall it turned out beautifully (happy late birthday Robin!) I learned so much, and am already starting on my second - although the next one will be about half the size of this one and hopefully I can learn to sew straight... thanks Jen for being my teacher in all this, I couldn't have done it without you!

Birthday Cake

We had a birthday here in the DeGroot household, and when there is a special day we make CAKE! I am a total sweet tooth, and believe me Violet can hold her own. She loved the cake. She had been doing art at daycare that day... so she looks a little more dingy than normal.
