Merry Xmas

We are having a fantastic time in sunny California.
Santa came to visit on Christmas day, needless to say the horror of Santa is still apparent, and there will be no pictures of Violet and Santa anytime soon!
Violet has been having a great time with her family and cousins, as soon as I can figure out my new camera I will attempt to post some pictures from Sea World!

Pick-a-boo with Violet

A visit to the beach

We spent a weekend at the Oregon coast, it was the beginning of what would be a very cold week, but the sun was shining so we made the best of it!
We took Violet to the Oregon Aquarium, where she had a ton of fun (especially watching the Otters).

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful day with my family. Dinner, drinks, dancing, and of course great company. Violet really enjoyed herself and made sure she was the the center of attention.

Fall in Portland

Fall is here. The rain is here. I woke up this morning to a layer of fog below.

Oh Dear!

I am so behind!

I don't have a picture today to share, but instead a little story.

Today was Violet's open house at her daycare facility. All of the kids parents were invited to a Thanksgiving meal at noon with their little one. Violet looked so happy and proud (I was a little shocked by this).

We lined up for our turkey, stuffing, and peas. While filling Violet's place the chef (yes they have a chef) told me how much Violet loves her vegetables. Apparently she is the only child in the entire class that will eat peas, and ask for more. Really? She couldn't be talking about my carb loading child? We sat down and again the owner of the daycare comes up and tells me that Violet loves to eat vegetables. I really don't know what is going on here. I cannot get her to eat vegetables at home. Really, not one. I need to find out what the secret is. We have a little Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde on our hands....

Quilt #2

Somehow I found some spare time to finish this sweet little baby quilt for an employee of mine who is due any day.

Dress Up

On Halloween I pulled out my "dress up" box, it's full of costumes and wigs from years past. Violet found my pink wig.

More Halloween!

We spent Halloween with our friends Jen and Neel (and Ellie the little fairy below). Violet loved trick or treating and once she got over her initial shyness was very outgoing. She knocked gently on each door (often times a little too gently) whispered trick or treat to each house, and never held back when someone let her choose her candy. We had a great night!

Happy Halloween

Henry came to visit us on Halloween to learn all about trick or treating - and of course eat some candy. I have to say they were the cutest garden gnomes I've ever seen.

Helping Hands

Violet has figured out that if she moves the dining room chairs to pretty much anywhere, she can reach pretty much everything. When you live in an open space, this can be very difficult to deal with. Unless, of course, if she is coming to help. She insists on helping Randy load and unload the dishwasher nightly.

More Art

not good photo quality. But definitely shows her personality right now.

Trucks

Violet loves Henry's newest toy. Too bad I didn't get a picture of her wearing his baseball cap.

Seriously the Rain is here

Yep, we are getting ready for the end of summer. It really seemed like such an abrupt ending, one day sun, and now the rain has arrived. Violet is decked out her best rain gear (the skirt was a thrift store SCORE! Super Girl super hip skirt)

20 Years

I think I may have hit a new milestone this weekend.

I attended my 20 year high school reunion. Yep, that's right Golden West class of 1989. It's hard to believe it's been 2o years, and 18 years that I moved away.

Did I learn much from seeing my old classmates?
Most cliques still exist
We all aged about the same
Most of my old insecurities are still there
When people shared their thoughts of me, it ran the gamut: one old friend remembered me as very shy and quiet, another friend said I looked like a city girl, and I belonged in a movie.
All in all it was a great night to remember the good old days, but also to be thankful of who I am today.

Counting

We are learning to count. The only problem is that 10 is a very exciting number!

The Pumpkin Patch

We visited our local pumpkin patch last weekend with Ellie (and the mom's) it was an adventure to say the least. I learned that carrying my 2 year old and a 5 pound pumpkin can be a daunting task, and no naps on a Sunday afternoon make for a very fussy toddler. We had a fantastic time overall and the sun even came out for us.

This is in mid sentence of say "NO"
