Food!

I know that last thing anyone wants to look at is a dirty baby.  I really can't help it that Violet LOVES her food.  Randy make spicy curry for dinner last night, so Violet had her own special dinner of pasta, needless to say she put it everywhere, but she loved it.  She's really good at her sign language skills now, at one point she asks for more... which I refuse, and then she says all done.  I really think if allowed she would eat all night long.  And yes she did use that spoon.

Visiting the Zoo

We took Violet to her first trip to the zoo last weekend.  I wasn't sure how much she would enjoy herself, and was pleasantly surprised.  She loved the animals (although she called most of them "dogs") and was very interested.  We also got to see the new baby elephant at the zoo named Samudra

Daddy and Violet at the end of the day, it was a bit chilly but no rain!

Daddy and Violet checking out the elephants, she loved to point at everything.

While at the zoo, the chimpanzees were having a little argument and chasing each other.  Honestly I have never heard anything like it in my life.  Violet was in total awe, I probably should have gotten video, but here is one of them who was screaming from the top of a post.
Amazed by daddies favorite animals... fish! (of course when I showed her mommies favorite animals at the zoo - bats - she just said dog dog dog)

The Box

I found this box in the garage, it was a quick fix to all the toys on the floor.  I thought maybe I could just put them in it at the end of the night.  Instead of finding toys in it tonight I discovered something else....

Soon I promise

I have pictures!  I promise when I get my butt in gear I will put them up.
I feel like time is going a little too quickly right now.  Being a working mom can take it's toll some weeks.  Every night I insist on eating dinner as a family.  This is my way of having "normal" family time every single day.  No music, no TV, no google, no text messages just the 3 of us at the dinner table (I know who eats dinner at the table anymore?)  I think it's the only down time I have on some days.  So if I haven't called you back, or emailed in a while, it's not because I'm lazy or am too busy to talk.  I'm just eating dinner with my family, because honestly it's my favorite time of the day, and I'm too busy doing that to catch up on anything else.

Happy 1st Birthday Henry

This weekend Henry turned one, and we were there to help celebrate.  Violet had a great time, helping to open presents, and play with all of her friends.  It was a great day, we found out what happens when she eats too much cake (needless to say it was the first time we've had to wash the car seat) Yuck.

Happy Birthday Henry, looks like yummy banana birthday cake!
Violet and Theo played well with each other, last week he kept grabbing her hair and knocking her over (I would say he just has a major crush on her -I mean really... who wouldn't?)  She was clapping at Theo but the best part is her little legs, when she sits down she crosses them, just like a little lady.
The confused look is cute, but the fact that she is holding a box called Mr. Bacon VS Monsieur Tofu is even better (we had a long discussion on why the bacon looked so evil and the tofu looked so refined and intelligent -was is their marketing trying to tell us?)

Daddy feeding Violet too much cake, we are learning to say no.  It's really hard.

Look at all those presents, the best ones were the cutest red cowboy boots, I think Violet may need a pair too....

Family Heirloom

Each of the DeGroot grandchildren has their very own rocking horse.  Violet received her rocking horse this week (complete with her name painted on it)  She is not sure what to make of it at this point since it is about twice the size of her.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa DeGroot.

I'm only happy when it rains...

Nana bought this little rain set last year when Violet was very small.  At the time I thought it looked huge and wondered if she would ever grow into it.  The rain started this week, which means summer might officially be over for us Oregonians.  If you have a cute hot pink rain slicker to wear on those dreary days it will make it much easier.  Don't you think?
On another note, little miss Violet pulled out the bathroom scale and stood on it today (wonder where she learned that?) she came in at a whopping 21 pounds.
