My favorite pair of tennis shoes are Adidas Samba's. I think I wear them all winter, I would wear them to work if I could. They are not girly, I remember Damon told me once that if I ever wanted to get a date I needed to stop wearing those tennis shoes with dresses, HA he was wrong. I found a pair for Violet yesterday, they are so darn cute. And look Damon she's even wearing a dress...

Happy Birthday Theo
Violet went to another 1st birthday this weekend. Theo turned 1 at the beginning of the month, but had a party a few weeks late. She discovered Elmo, which I think it funny. We don't have an Elmo at home, and the only time she has ever seen him is on her cracker box, and occasionally on You Tube (sort of bribery somehow it calms her down to watch short snippets of Sesame street videos). Elmo was the most exciting party of her day.

Party Weekend
It has been a busy month! New job, new daycare, and trying to enjoy the last days of summer (Fall equinox is tomorrow already! What happened?) We had a great weekend catching up with friends, and a few celebrations. Dalia turned 1 last week, so we went to her house for a little party action, and fun. Violet had a great time meeting some new friends, and playing on Dalia's piano - we may just have to come visit again soon! Here are some pictures from Dalia's blog, since we forgot to bring the camera.
And then on Sunday we met Ellie Beatrice Briggs, she was born on the 12th, and is the cutest little girl. Violet spent a lot of time pointing at her, and screaming at the dog. Yep, screaming, she found out how to scream very loud, and loves to do it over and over. Hopefully we move on to another milestone very soon.
I promise I'll get some pictures this week!

Camping Part 2
The first time we went camping, it didn't turn out quite how we expected. I'm glad we made a second attempt, and took Violet out into the wilderness one more time! We went to Laurance Lake near Mt. Hood, she went on her first canoe ride, and caught her first fish (well, she slept through the fish part)
All in all she did really well, and I think we can say that we will be camping more often now! As you can imagine Randy is quite happy about that.
Here she is in her new life-vest that Grandma DeGroot bought her. Right after we took this picture she fell backward and couldn't move... not a pretty site, it reminded me of a bug stuck on it's back.

This is Randy fly-fishing at dusk, Violet is sound alseep in her carrier on his chest, and yes Randy did catch some fish.

It was a bit chilly the next morning, so Violet is a little bundled up here (what's up with all the purple/violet mom?) See that chair? The best $20 I spent in a long time, it's traveled all over. She loves to sit in it, and it washes up fantastically.
Violet in her very own camping chair (thanks Nana Lulu) doing her new favorite thing. Drawing. She loves to also draw all over herself, so she must be watched very closely now.

New Toys!
Grandma and Grandpa DeGroot are visiting this weekend, and of course they brought some fun toys with them. This one keeps Violet the most occupied right now, she is still trying to figure exactly how to maneuver it. We've had lots of fun the last couple of days, going to the street fair, visiting, visiting Aunt Bunny & Uncle Pickle at their restaurant, and enjoying the sunny days. Actually this is the first time the grandparents have ever seen the sun in Portland.
