Conversations

Violet has some pretty intense conversations lately.  She sure has a lot to say, and is so expressive with those hands!  She's walking around like a pro now, and is all over the place, I run around a lot keep up with her.

New Chair

I found this little rocking chair on Craigs list, and she loves it!  Can you tell by the silly grin on her face?  We've had a fun week, visiting the grandparents in Eugene, and just hanging out together.  That is quickly coming to an end, as mommy has found a job and I start on Monday.  I'm excited but sad I didn't have more time to just hang out this summer.  Violet is growing so fast, we are still waiting for some first words, she definitely talks a lot, but it is still in her own language.

Mimicking

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted, since we've returned from Mexico, I have been hard at work trying to find a job.  It is paying off, I have had 2 interviews so far with 2 different companies! Okay enough about me.
Violet is very good at watching and learning, and picking up plenty of new behaviors.   She thinks the remote she is holding is a cell phone.  I'm not sure who talks on the phone like this, but she learned it from somewhere!
It was also around 100 degrees that day, she had watermelon and was covered in pink juice, I gave her some freedom and let her just run around in a diaper and tank top.
We are off to visit Nana and Grandpa Barnett for a few days, so I'm sure we will have more pictures when we return!

Touching the babies cheek

Below I mentioned everyone wanted to touch Violet's cheek, here is video where she is mesmerized by the Mariachi band, watch the little hand sneak up half way through...

Mexico

We made it home from our first family trip to Mexico!  We had about 6 hours of travel time in a plane, and Violet did pretty well for her first long distance trip.  On the way down, someone even commented about what a mellow little girl we had, and how good she was.  The only lesson learned is that it is better to travel during the morning, than late at night.
She loved the beach and ate tons of sand and sea water.  I tried over and over to stop this, but each time I said no, she just laughed at me and put more in her mouth.  Rebellion at it's finest.
The funniest thing about Mexico was the reaction to Violet, women, men, and children would walk up to her and touch her cheeks.  I had never seen this done before, but seriously we couldn't go anywhere without people wanting to touch her.  At first I was leery of it, then realized that this was a compliment, and they only wanted to touch her.  She of course milked up the attention, and now can't go anywhere without hamming it up.   We have created a monster.
Here are some of my favorites pictures, and you can view all of them HERE

so many toys...

I wish we could take this toy to Mexico, she seems to have fun with it.  Funny thing is that she will only move backwards, not forwards, hasn't quite figured out that part out yet, it's pretty funny as she backs into all the furniture.  One day if you have free time I'll tell you about how I thought my old car didn't have reverse on it, and used to push it out of parking spots (yes, true story).... kind of reminds me of that.

Reading

One of Violet's favorite past times is taking all of the books out of the book shelf.  She will carefully inspect them, and sometimes if I'm very lucky will place them back (not very often).  She's found herself some very heavy reading below.
She is off on her first airplane trip tomorrow, wish us luck!
