Baby Proofing the House

Two weeks ago it was crawling, so off we went to the store and bought gates for the stairs. Then it was picking up everything on the floor and putting in her mouth (mainly Diego's food), and NOW it's pulling herself up on furniture. Our slate fireplace is now baby proofed with blankets. Violet has officially taken over our home. Diego is always close by to ensure she is safe. She really is very proud of herself, you can see it in her face.

Silly Noisy Toy

Violet has a huge box full of toys. I'm just not sure how we have so many already, some are from Christmas some are hand me downs from friends, and some appeared mysteriously. Below is Violet's newest favorite toy. It is a steering wheel in which you pretend your driving, it makes lots of noise (ambulance, honking, police car, fire truck, and music) Oh my head hurts... Many years ago I gave Avery a toy that made lots of noise, I believe this is payback.

• the batteries on the camera ran out this weekend, and I just need to get around to changing them....
• oh, and all she does is cry right now, we "think" it's teething she is: drooling uncontrollably, crying, and very very cuddly.  I can forgive the crying, the cuddling makes up for all of it.  There is nothing like coming home to a cuddly baby that just want to snuggle with her mama.

Happy 7 Months

Today is Violet's 7 month birthday. She has pink eye - but other than that little bump in the road she is doing just great! Here is a brief list of her recent accomplishments!

• Sitting up on her own
• Crawling - okay it's only been 2 days of this, but it's a pretty big deal.
• Speaking... only sounds but da is her favorite, we like to think she's saying da da to Randy but she also says it to me and Diego...
• Eating, she's been a slow eater, not too interested in food but in recent weeks she suddenly seems a little more hungry for something besides milk.
• Sleeping is still a rough one, but we are slowly working on it.
• She loves her bath time now, and tonight discovered how much fun splashing can be
• She has now been in daycare for one month and is transitioning very well, we just make sure to hug and play lots when we are together.

On another note (a sad one) my cousin's daughter died this morning, little Emily Rose was only a month old. Give someone a hug, and keep her in your prayers and thoughts during this very rough period. I have no idea the pain she is feeling, and can't even imagine. It only makes me squeeze Violet a little tighter and to recognize how lucky we are.

If you can believe it we watched the super bowl this weekend, as usual I was confused and bored (until the last minute!) but something very exciting DID happen. Violet crawled, in front of the whole family. This is a day later, but you can see she already has it down, there was something on the other side of the room and she was bound and determined to get to it...
