My Little Mohawk

In 1986 I went to England with my mom (and sister) it was a very cool time to be there. I remember being obsessed with the punk rock scene (the scene in Visalia did not even compare!) there were some very hot boys with Mohawks (um sorry Randy) I soon grew out of my obsession with the hot boys with Mohawks (my mom breathed a sigh a relief when I met Randy).
This week I realized that Violet has just enough hair on top to look like the PERFECT Mohawk.

Sitting up

Violet is a real pro at sitting up on her own now, and Diego is still always trying to lick her face, some things will never change...

I want to crawl

She sure is determined! It hasn't happended yet, but she tries daily, it's only a matter of time!

My Sippy Cup

We introduced the Sippy Cup this week. At first Violet wanted nothing to do with it, knocking it over at the mere sight of it. Then suddenly she figured out how to use it. The funny thing is that she loved it, but would put the water in her mouth and spit it out over and over. It's hard to tell from the photos but she's soaked, all from the sippy cup.

Trying to Crawl?

Gosh, I'm sorry it's been so long. It has been an eventful 2 weeks. I had my first work conference away from home. I had to be in Seattle Monday through Thursday this week, it was my first time away from home since having Violet. Randy is a great dad, and took care of Violet each night, I think they had a good time!
When I picked her up on Thursday (as soon as I walked in the door I grabbed my keys and drove to the daycare!) the care taker said Violet had been trying to crawl all week, she gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth, gets a frustrated that she isn't going anywhere and screams. It won't be long now, I think we need to baby proof the house soon!

Yummy Sweet Potatoes

Violet turned 6 months old last Saturday. She seems to be growing and learning something new every single day. We just picked up this high chair from IKEA this week, it's the perfect size for her (and our house!) I think she really likes her new chair!
She can now:
  • sit up on her own
  • says "da da" over and over
  • she weighs 16.5 LBs
  • is making a crazy "bird like" noise, I really don't know what to call it, but it's pretty funny to listen to

These are for me?

My First Christmas

Santa showed up with his bag of gifts (in a Macy's bag - of course)

Hands going straight for the beard....

She loved opening the gifts (and trying to get the paper in her mouth)

Such excitement and curiosity for a new toy!

All of us with Santa

My Special Christmas Dress

I insisted that Violet get a special Christmas dress. Randy was less than thrilled, but when I found this cute little dress on sale, we couldn't resist. Poor Violet was actually sick on Christmas day with a fever, but she didn't let it get her down! She had a great first Christmas and even met Santa. Here is her special dress.

Daddy and baby
This is my favorite face that she makes right now
What color are my eyes? Randy says green I say blue, guess we have keep waiting to find out.

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve, and Grandma DeGroot brought the blocks out to play with. All Violet wanted to do was eat them. Patience was a little bit jealous of the attention to Violet, but soon got over it.

Hello Tree

Violet me Therese (otherwise known as Tree to me) on our fun road trip. She had a great time playing with her Auntie Tree, and even got a cute outfit. If I look like I got 2 hours of sleep in the photo, that's because I did. Love you Tree!

18 Hours in the Car....

We had quite an adventure over our holiday vacation. As you can see from my prior post we had a great time in southern California, and I'm just now getting around to uploading the 125 pictures we took over the 10 days we were out of town (that many? WOW).
So I will be sifting through the photos over the next few days, I started back at work this week full time this week, so as you can imagine I haven't had as much free time.
This is our first leg of the trip, we drove to Medford then onto Visalia (my hometown) .

The pass, we were very lucky we had no snow on the road!
