Flashdance!
Robin and I went shopping in the Mississippi neighborhood last week. We came across a super cute kids clothing store. They had these adorable little leg warmers for babies, but the price tag was out of my range, plus I think I could make the same thing at home. So on Monday I pulled out the needles, and used some left over sock yarn (very odd colors, from Italy... I'm not sure what I was thinking when I bought it) anyways here is my final result. Violet has her very own leg warmers, at 12 weeks she's already way ahead of the fashion trend. If you want your very own baby leg warmers, let me know! I'm sure I will make more for her.

Our Daily Walk
We walk quite a bit, Diego needs the exercise, I need the exercise, and Randy just needs to get outside. Violet on the other hand usually sleeps during our excursion. But, tonight was different, she is doing so well at holding her head up now, we decided it was time to let her face the world. So here she is, she looks a little nervous I know, but she did really good, and didn't sleep at all during our stroll. I think for the first time she was somewhat aware of her surroundings, checking out the trees, and the loud bus as it zoomed by.
Also let me apologize for all the pink she is wearing (pink hat, pink striped sweater, pink onesie, pink striped pants, and those cute pink bunny socks) at least nobody can mistake her for a boy right? Thanks Auntie Therese for the cute pink sweater! She wears it all the time, and gets tons of comments. The funny thing is that I totally bundled her up thinking it was cold outside, needless to say she's bit overdressed for the weather (can you say over protective mother?) being that it was 72 outside at that time...

Our First Tears
We had our first real tears today, I was bending down to pick Violet up and the pacifier fell out of my hand and landed on her face. I think the surprise of something hitting her startled her, and needless to say the tears began. This wasn't her usual cry, it was real and we had to document it. I read that real tears don't begin until 8 or 9 months, so maybe we had a little fluke today, but I promise you they were real. Poor baby.

Taxi Driver Fans
This really sholdn't remind me of Travis Bickle (Robert DiNero) but it does, it's that scene when he's looking in the mirror
Travis Bickle: You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talking... you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here.

Isn't it Ironic?

For the last two months we've tried to establish some sort of bedtime routine for Violet. The time may change slightly but the swaddling and the comfort soother (white noise) remains the same.
I've been worried lately that she would become addicted to the noise and be unable to ever sleep without it (actually someone reprimanded me recently- but that is another story) I didn't turn the soother on the other night. I swaddled her up and placed her in her bed. She fell right asleep. And me? Couldn't sleep at all. I miss the soother.

Violet Meets Theo
Theo was born 9-9-07, and I took Violet over to see her new friend.
He was exactly the same weight and height as Violet when she was born, and he's absolutely adorable.
Unfortunately, Violet became very fussy once we arrived at Julie's and then passed out (too much excitement today?), Theo was so interested in her, I suppose we will have to wait another week before they truly meet.

Growth Spurt?
The past few days have been challenging. Violet was very fussy, and we weren't sure what to make of it. Was it her shots last week? Was she not feeling very well? Her eating habits changed, she screamed a lot, slept during the day, and not at night. Then suddenly it stopped, she is back to normal sleeping a full night and eating regular. I tried to put her usual clothes on this morning and they didn't fit. I swear she grew overnight, so no more newborn (0-3 months) clothes, she is on to the next size! It's like she had a growth spurt over one day... thank goodness she's her old self again.

Yachats Oregon
We took our first mini vacation out of town with Violet last weekend. We spent a few days at the Oregon coast. I have never been to the coast (in Oregon) on a sunny, hot, not raining, not windy, not foggy day (can you say Global warming). But as you can see from the pictures below we had perfect weather for our perfect weekend out of town. We stayed in the Shamrock Lodgettes, right on the beach. Violet loved the beach, I think she would have preferred not to spend so much time in her car seat, but she took it like a champ.
The view from our porch to the ocean.
A covered bridge in the middle of no where, we took an hour drive on forest roads back from here (Randy's idea not mine)
Devils Churn
Me and Violet sleeping in (notice how I look tired and she looks wide awake?- typical)
Randy in front of Florence bridge
Florence, if you look closely you can see Violet smiling.

Family photo, too bad Violet is turned the wrong way!
Having fun in the Bjorn, all bundled up!

2 Months old Today!
Today is Violet's 2 month birthday. We started the day with a trip to the doctor. Yep, those pesky shots started today. She howled like we've never heard before, she cries on occasion but this was not a cry, more of a scream of terror. All in all it ended up fine, once home she slept most of the day, and is now just hanging out in her boppy, so I think the bad part is over. Just 2 more months and we get to go through this again.
But on a happy note here are the stats:
Weight: 11.8 pounds (75th percentile)
Height: 23 1/2" (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 15" (75th percentile)
Eyes: Blue and will stay that way (just like her mom!)
What does all of this mean?

What does all of this mean?
- She's a little porker and loves to eat (just like her mom), remember she has only been breastfed
- She's going to be tall (just like her dad)
- The OBGYN that told me something was wrong with my baby because her head was small is CRAZY!
- She's perfect (just like her parents)
And here are the 2 month milestones for a baby:
By the end of month two a baby typically:
Smiles
Tracks objects with his eyes
Makes noises other than crying
May repeat vowel noises, such as "ah" or "ooh"

She is doing all of the above so we are right on track!

Busy Weekend
Violet had a very busy weekend, we went to an art show, fishing with daddy, a wedding and a BBQ at Damon's! She was pooped by Monday night.
Violet and Uncle Damon hanging out, she is totally in love with him, talking making faces the whole time.

We took Violet to Henry Hagg Lake today on her first fishing trip, well Randy went fishing and Violet watched (and did a lot of sleeping)
A perfect day to fish
